About the Traverse City Firefighters

Our organization currently consists of 26 dedicated members divided into strategic divisions.  These divisions include Administration, Fire Prevention, Training and Fire Suppression.  Each division works effortlessly together to obtain our number 1 goal- the health and safety of our community.   

 

Our Community is protected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a conservative, minimum staffing of 5 highly trained personnel.  Daily operations are conducted from 2 stations in order to ensure a prompt response to every situation.  In the event more resources are needed, staffing is increased through off duty personnel and automatic/mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire Depts. We are also under contract to provide 2 personnel daily to the Cherry Capital Regional Airport for 
Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) operations.   

 

Our membership provides a multitude of professional services to our citizens, businesses and guests.  These services are provided on a daily basis and range from fire protection, life safety, property conservation and emergency medical services.  Our membership is also responsible for providing Aircraft fire protection and medical services at Cherry Capital Airport.  We are a unique proactive career Department and specialize in a wide range of disciplines. 

 

We strive to provide the highest quality of service available in the most cost effective manner.  This shall be achieved through strict training, preparation, teamwork, education and other numerous commitments.  Our devotion is to you.           

 

Our Local takes great pride in our community and participates/supports in various community events.  Such events include Friday Night Live, Special Kids Day, Open house, Holiday Parades, Toy Programs, Family and Neighborhood functions, and many others.  Every year we donate financially to numerous charities including MDA, Rotary Clubs, Burn Camps, TCCPCAN and many other programs.
